BA (Hons) Criminology and Policing (Foundation Year)
The BA (Hons) Criminology and Policing degree combines our expertise in contemporary criminology and professional policing to give you a comprehensive understanding of criminological theories that you will be able to apply to current socio-economic policies and conditions. This course will prepare you for a career within the criminal justice system in roles such as policing, research or youth work. You'll benefit from both a theoretical and practical application of the course content, preparing you for your future career.
You can choose to take an additional Foundation Year before you start your course. This introductory year focuses on developing the key skills required to study at degree level. You will study six modules and on successful completion progress onto any of our three year degrees.

Birmingham
Our Birmingham campus is located in the city’s Jewellery Quarter, just a short walk away from the centre of the city and other universities – making it a great place to study. The campus has a café, allowing you to grab hot and cold food whilst on the go and, with great transport links and the Birmingham Snow Hill Train Station just round the corner, you’re never far from the rest of the UK.

PSW Opportunity
- 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
- 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
UK Entry Requirements
- 48 UCAS Points from a maximum of 3 A-Levels, or equivalent qualifications
- GCSE English Language at Grade C/4
You will also be invited to an interview with an academic as part of the admissions process, which will take place online.
Non-standard application route
If you have no or limited formal qualifications you will be invited to complete an in-house literacy test at one of our campuses (for those without GCSE English Language at grade C/4), as well as a formal face-to-face interview. You will also need to provide 2 years of appropriate work experience evidenced by a full CV and one reference.
