Bachelor of Environment and Sustainability (Honours)
The Bachelor of Environment and Sustainability (Honours) degree builds on the Bachelor of Environment and Sustainability with the Environment Honours specialisation, reflecting ANU national and international leadership in research in this field. You will design and implement a unique research project on a topic relevant to environment and sustainability, preparing you for professional life or for a higher degree by research through the development of advanced knowledge of the research principles and methods and theoretical concepts of your discipline. Your research will provide new understandings of or solutions to complex problems; and you will develop skills valued by employers, including holistic thinking and evidence-based decision making.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to:
- Plan and engage in an independent and sustained critical investigation and evaluation of a chosen research topic relevant to environment and sustainability to generate new knowledge.
- Systematically identify and evaluate relevant theory and concepts, relate these to appropriate methodologies and evidence, and draw appropriate original conclusions.
- Engage in systematic discovery and critical review of appropriate and relevant information sources.
- If relevant, demonstrate sufficient mastery to understand, evaluate, and appropriately apply techniques and methods to collect original research data and/or develop new techniques and methods to collect original research data.
- Analyse and interpret research data with appropriate statistical or other evaluative processes to generate new knowledge.
- Understand and appropriately apply ethical standards of conduct in the collection, evaluation, analysis, and interpretation of data and other resources.
- Communicate and justify complex research concepts, methods, results, contexts, and implications clearly and effectively both in writing and orally to a variety of audiences.

Our Acton campus is in the heart of Canberra - Australia's capital city - in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Applicants who complete a recognized secondary/senior secondary/post-secondary/tertiary sequence of study will be assessed on the basis of an equivalent selection rank that is calculated upon application. A score of 70% or more with no section less than 65%
Academic IELTS An overall score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component of the test.
TOEFL paper based test A score of 570 with a TWE* score of 4.5.
TOEFL internet based test An overall score of 80, with a minimum of 20 in Reading and Writing and 18 in Speaking and Listening.
Cambridge CAE Advanced (Post 2015) An overall score of 176 with a minimum of 169 in all sub-skills.
PTE Academic An overall score of 64 with a minimum score of 55 in each of the communicative skills.
