Graduate Diploma in Health Communication
This degree will provide you with core media skills to help you become an effective communicator across health and medicine, public affairs, public relations, community relations and journalism.
Designed for aspiring and experienced communicators, health advocates, public relations specialists, media experts, and healthcare professionals, the course encourages development of skills in:
- clear communication of public health campaigns and policy topics
- creation of public education programs that nurture a more healthcare-literate population
- the ability to raise awareness of, and advocate for, specific healthcare matters
- management of communication technology, including social media, to ensure information accuracy and uphold ethical standards

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Admission to candidature for the Graduate Diploma in Health Communication requires:
- a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney with a minimum 60% average calculated over the whole degree, including a major in a relevant subject area in the humanities, social sciences or public health, or an equivalent qualification; or
- completion of the requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Health Communication with a minimum credit (65%) average, or an equivalent qualification.
