Bachelor of Design in Architecture

The Bachelor of Design in Architecture is offered by the University of Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning, ranked top 20 in the world for Architecture/Built Environment*. This degree introduces you to the rewarding profession of architecture and is your first step to becoming a registered architect.

In this degree, you will learn to design for the built environment through a studio-based program that involves working on real-world projects in and around Sydney. Opportunities for international exchange are also offered and provide you with a broader view of the role architecture can play in improving people's lives.

You will undertake a core program in architectural history and theory, communications, technology, and design workshops. You will have access to electives drawn from across disciplines in arts, digital design, sustainability, and urban design.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
PhD students can stay upto 4 years

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

A secondary education qualification such as the NSW Higher School Certificate (including national and international equivalents), OR approved higher education study, including approved preparation courses.
There are no prerequisites for this course.
You are expected to have studied the following subjects in high school to succeed in this course:
- Mathematics Advanced
- English Advanced
