Comparative and International Dispute Resolution LLM

You will be able to study transnational law and governance, alternative dispute resolution and arbitration. You will consider commercial conflict of laws and the ethics of arbitration. Please note that not all modules will be available in any one year.

You will be offered a varied selection of taught modules from which you can choose, enabling you to gear your qualification to set you on your desired career trajectory. You do not have to choose your modules until you have had the opportunity to learn about them in greater detail during your comprehensive induction period.

You will also have voluntary access to an excellent series of lectures in Critical Thinking and Writing in Law to help you improve your writing and research in law skills.

This LLM is an excellent foundation for a PhD. It will give you the theoretical grounding you will need to develop a good doctoral project, and then to pursue advanced doctoral research. A number of the graduates of this LLM have progressed onto the PhD programme. Graduates have also gone on to:

  • become a Senior Manager in the Indian Government.
  • work as an international arbitration Associate in a leading law firm.

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
  • 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.

  • A 2:1 or above at undergraduate level in Law or a degree with substantial law content.

We normally consider the following qualifications for entry to our postgraduate taught programmes: Bachelor Degree (minimum 3 years) from selected institutions.

  • UK 1st class degree: 75% to 80%
  • UK 2:1 degree: 60% to 70%
  • UK 2:2 degree: 50% to 60%

Offer conditions will vary depending on the institution you are applying from.  For some institutions/degrees we will ask for different grades to above, so this is only a guide.
