Bachelor of Public Safety (Honours) (Co-op)
The four-year Bachelor of Public Safety (Honours) degree program imparts the theory and hands-on instruction allowing you to develop a systematic approach to public safety to counter, coordinate and investigate man-made and natural threats to individuals, information systems security, critical infrastructure, organizations, companies, and governments.
You learn the proven and sound principles of public safety within the context of Canadian legislation. Theoretical and experiential courses, combined with applied research and two co-op work terms, provide you with work-integrated learning opportunities, as well as the opportunity to develop and build investigative and analytical problem-solving skills. You develop inter-professional capabilities using a collaborative approach to addressing public safety situations.
This program prepares you for positions in the field of public safety encompassing security, countering crime, and emergency management. Graduates may find public safety employment opportunities in policing and the military, as well as various public and private sector organizations, government and non-profit organizations.

Job Opportunity Potential
Graduates are prepared for positions as coordinators and specialists in public safety including areas of national security, emergency management and countering crime. Students develop skills, knowledge and expertise in areas such as; threat-risk assessment, information systems security, emergency management and crime prevention. Through experiential learning such as case studies and simulations, students develop a holistic approach to leadership to counter and manage man-made and natural threats to individuals, information, systems, critical infrastructure, organizations, companies, governments and nations. Students utilize theoretical and applied knowledge and skills with community partners in the government and private sector through two co-op work terms.

- You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.
If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.
For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.
If your program was 2 years or more
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.
If you completed more than 1 program
- You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.
Each of the programs you completed -
- must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
FOR INDIA
One of the following certificates with a minimum grade of 70 or above in required program subjects:
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
- the India Senior School Certificate
- the Pre-University Examination Certificate
- the Intermediate Examination Certificate
- On-shore: IELTS 6.5, no band lower than 6.0 OR equivalent test OR 1-year minimum of successful studies in Canada
FOR BANGLADESH
- Higher Secondary Certificate with a minimum grade of 70% in required program subjects or
- General Certificate of Education (A Level). Require a minimum of five academic subjects with a grade of B
- GCSE require a minimum of six academic subjects (five if using an English test in lieu of English) with a minimum grade of 6
- Include transcripts for any post-secondary courses or programs completed
English Proficiency requirements are as follows for consideration:
- A minimum TOEFL score of 88 (internet-based with no single test score below 21)
- Or an IELTS with an overall minimum score of 6.5 (with no single test score below 6.0)
- Or CAEL with an overall band score of 70
- Or PTE Minimum of 60 (no section score under 53)
FOR SRI LANKA
One of the following:
1. Sri Lanka General Certificate of Education at Advanced Level Examination Level results or
