Bachelor of Mathematics

The Bachelor of Mathematics is designed to provide high-achieving students with a solid foundation in the fundamental concepts and theories of mathematics. It covers core subjects like calculus, linear algebra and statistics, while exploring more advanced topics in complex systems, networks, abstract algebra, analysis, topology, probability theory, numerical methods and more.

You’ll develop problem-solving skills and analytical reasoning, preparing you for a wide range of future careers as mathematicians, data scientists, statisticians and analysts. With further study, the two co-requisite majors in Architecture can lead to a career in architecture, urban design, architectural drafting, architectural education/academia or government policy. You could work in architectural and urban design practice, city and regional planning, government agencies, higher education, property development and architectural illustration and modelling.

Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
PhD students can stay upto 4 years.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this course you need to:

achieve a minimum ATAR of 90 or equivalent as recognised by UWA
demonstrate English language competence - applicants presenting with IELTS Academic require an overall score of at least 6.5 and no band less than 6.0
Mathematics requirement
ATAR Mathematics Specialist or ATAR Mathematics Methods. If you don't meet this level, you may be able to take additional Mathematics units in your first year to satisfy this requirement.
