Bachelor of Education (Primary) (Honours)
Make a real difference to young children’s lives and equip them with the skills, knowledge and values needed to succeed in the world, now and in the future. This distinctive undergraduate teaching degree prepares you to be a teacher from Pre-primary to Year 6 and gives you the skills and knowledge to be profession-ready.
You'll develop in-depth knowledge of the primary curriculum, be exposed to a range of teaching strategies, and undertake professional placements supervised by a practising teacher. You'll also be taught by inspiring and innovative lecturers, be given experiences in schools across a diverse range of settings, and will develop your knowledge, confidence and skills through both classroom and experience-based learning. You'll be required to pass the National Literacy and Numeracy Test (LANTITE) as well as a Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA).

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have -
(a) achieved an ATAR of at least 75, or equivalent as recognised by UWA; or
(b) an assured pathway offer; or
(c) achieved a score of at least 100 in UWA's Experienced-based Entry assessment; or
(d) a place in a relevant UWA access program
English competency
- English is the language of instruction and assessment at UWA and you will need to meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible for a place.
- This course has higher ELC requirements. Applicants presenting with the IELTS Academic require an overall score of at least 7.5, a minimum 7.0 in the reading and writing bands, and a minimum score of 8.0 in the listening and speaking bands.
