Our dual degree in Design and Information Technology is designed to give you a unique and powerful skill set to challenge conventional thinking and thrive in the ever-evolving world we live in. By marrying design principles with technical expertise, you'll emerge as a dynamic professional, capable of addressing intricate human problems with a fresh, creative, and innovative perspective.

You can customise your educational pathway with the flexibility to choose a major from each degree, aligning perfectly with your career goals. In the Design component, dive into the core principles through 6 hands-on design studio-based projects and 5 majors to choose from.

On the Information Technology side, we focus on the essential pillars of people, code, and data. You'll build a robust foundation across these core IT streams and have the opportunity to specialise in User Experience Design, Software Design, or Software Information Systems.

St Lucia

Situated on 114 hectares of Brisbane River-bound land, UQ’s main campus is a vibrant mix of majestic sandstone buildings and contemporary architecture, landscaped gardens and lakes. Fanning out from the heritage-listed Great Court, you’ll find modern teaching and research facilities, including laboratories, lecture theatres, and Queensland’s largest research library. The expansive grounds are also home to a variety of sporting facilities, museums, cafes, and those famous Jacaranda trees. The St Lucia campus is only seven kilometres from Brisbane’s city centre, making it an appealing place to study, work or visit.

PSW Opportunity

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
PhD students can stay upto 4 years

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Queensland Year 12 (or equivalent):

General English subject (Units 3 & 4, C), and
Mathematical Methods (Units 3 & 4, C).
