This future-focused degree gives you flexibility to design your studies in order to pursue emerging and cross-sector job opportunities, including in international development, security, humanitarian emergencies and sustainability.
By engaging with organisations and communities, thought leaders and students from diverse backgrounds, Master of Global Studies graduates will emerge with advanced knowledge and skills to lead teams, communities and inform strategic decision-making across a diverse range of industries.
The Master of Global Studies degree is future oriented, teaching core skills appropriate to the development, adaptation and use of new approaches and technologies to respond to the needs of specific communities and organisations, and more broadly to make progress in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Throughout your studies, you will select to focus from four specialist streams allowing you to elevate your expertise and set the course for your career.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
You must have:
- successfully completed an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification),
OR - at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in international development, urban or disaster management, or related policy fields.

- a personal statement that demonstrates your academic foundation for master’s study. This may include details on how your professional experiences relate to the program, demonstration of critical thinking in personal and/or professional practice, and communication and problem-solving skills.
